Activision is known for driving their franchises into the ground (Guitar Hero, Call of Duty, etc.), but so far, Skylanders is holding up quite well… and for good reason. Read on for sales figures and an infographic.
Building upon the addictive Skylanders Spyro's Adventure and Skylanders Giants, Activision this morning officially announced the next big installment in the series: Skylanders SWAP Force… and it sounds a bit mixed up, in a good way.
Activision today announced that the Skylanders franchise has topped $500 million in retail sales (games, bundles and figures included). The figures alone have outsold WWE, Beyblade and Star Wars toys, which is an impressive feat.
Skylanders Giants is surely going to be a giant Holiday seller, just as the first game was. For gamescom, Activision fired over a set of new screens and a few photos of the figures.
The E3 is about to begin and Activision this morning sent over their lineup of titles that will be present at the show in one way or another. Black Ops II, Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Skylanders Giants, The Amazing Spider-Man and 007 Legends are the highlights at the moment.
