Right now Nintendo of America is talking about the Wii. Here are the details:
1) The Wii will only release in one color at launch, and that is white.
2) The majority of the 4 million units released this year will come to the U.S. and the Wii will be available at 25,000 locations.
3) Included in the box is 1 Wiimote, one nunchuk controller and a copy of Wii Sports. Cables and sensor bar are of course part of the package.
4) As stated last night, the Wii will be available on Nov. 19 for $249.99.
5) Included in Wii Sports are tennis, baseball, bowling, golf, and boxing.
6) Nintendo reaffirms that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess will launch on the same day as the Wii. So the official release date for Zelda is Nov. 19.
7) Excite Truck is also a launch title with the Wii.
8) There are a lot of Wii games in development. Since E3's strong showing many developlers have signed on to make games. In Japan at the conference there were over 104 Wii games demonstrated. At today's event in New York they will show off around 30.
9) Over 30 games will be available in the console's launch window (before Christmas). At least half of those will be available on day 1 (we're counting over half by looking over lists). The games will retail for $49.99
10) Wii Channels are being shown. This is built into the Wii hardware and we went into some detail in last night's Japan report. Reggie mentions that these channels will appeal to all members of the family.
11) As we stated from the Japan conference, 30 Virtual Console titles will be available at launch, with 10 more released every month after that.
12) Super Mario World and Super Mario 64 are just 2 games slated for launch on the Virtual Console.
13) Pricing for Virtual Console games will be as follows: 500 points for a NES game, 800 points for SNES, and 1000 points for N64. A 2000 point card costs $20 and will be made available at retail stores across the nation.
14) The different Wii Channels are being shown. The Mii Channel is where you'll create your very own icon/avatar. This person is completely customizable and will be used in many of the Wii games, like Wii Sports. The photo channel is where you can view all of your digital pictures easily and without hassle. Simply throw in an SD Card and you're good to go.
15) In addition to pictures, home movies can be edited in some capacity. Also, when connected to Nintendo's Internet service WiiConnect24, gamers can access the News and Weather channels. There's also a message board where users can compose messages, send photos, etc. to other Wii owners or even to a PC or cell phone.
16) The Opera Browser to surf the Internet will be available for purchase by using some Wii points.
17) The Wii Remote will cost $39.99 and the Nunchuk attachment will be $19.99. The Wii Classic Controller will also be $19.99
18) The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess for GameCube will not be available until December 11. Ouch. The Wii version is available on November 19 with the Wii, so Nintendo is apparently trying to get people to switch to the Wii version.
19) Accessing the Internet is free, but to browse the Internet you'll need to purchase the Opera Browser, which we don't know the cost at this time.
20) Metroid Prime 3 has been delayed until 2007.
21) No online enabled games for the launch in the U.S. In Japan they'll have Pokemon Revolution Battle that will be online. We should have online games shortly after launch, but we don't know which ones.
22) 2000 Wii points = $24 Canadian.
