Namco sent over a hot copy of Time Crisis: Crisis Zone. The game is well near completion and the PS2 port is much improved over the arcade version. The PS2 game has the complete arcade version of Crisis Zone, plus an additional two areas that act as a mini-sequel to the events occured in the original storyline. There are three areas in the original arcade game that let you shoot through the plaza Garland Square, a shopping district, and an office building. The graphics are completely overhauled from the arcade game and look fantastic. Full 60 frames per second and detailed textures make newspapers, fruit, statues, everything look great when they're ripped to pieces. The action is very fast and more intense than Time Crisis. Since Crisis Zone relies solely on a machine gun, the fire spray is always constant. Each shot requires a flash of white on the screen, so to remedy this and not cause epileptic seizures nationwide, Namco has players set up a brightness test on the screen before play. The result is a transparent overlay of white mist when you fire at everything. It takes away from seeing everything get blown to bits clearly, but it doesn't detract too much from the game. Besides the new areas there are Crisis Missions, mini levels that require an objective to be completed. They include, shooting all enemies without a shield, getting as many shot combos as possible, or reaching the 10th floor of a building with one life. Time Crisis: Crisis Zone is looking and playing great. It hits stores this October.
