It has happened before and chances are it’ll happen again: video games blamed for poor parenting. According to a report out of
The Morning News, EverQuest has been pinned as the reason for 3-year-old Brianna Cordell’s death on August 8 in Springdale, Arkansas. Cordell’s mother, Mary Christina Cordell, left her son in her vehicle outside the family’s house for several hours as she became engrossed in a game of EverQuest.
“…on the day in question, Ms. Cordell was playing an Internet game, EverQuest, for a period of time exceeding two hours, during which she had no knowledge concerning the whereabouts of her daughter,” Jeff Taylor, Springdale police detective told The Morning News.
Though EverQuest had preoccupied Mary Cordell’s attention on August 8, it was apparently not the first time she’d forgotten her parenting duties.
“It also appears this is not the first time the child was seen playing inside of a vehicle while unsupervised,” Taylor said.
