Criterion Software, the world's leading provider of game development solutions, announces that RenderWare®, the industry's de facto middleware technology, has been chosen by Lionhead Studios, one of the game community's most revered developers, to support the timely development and delivery of its latest title, 'The Movies' on next generation consoles. RenderWare will enable the Lionhead team to minimize the time and resources spent on the technical components required for next generation console development, and allow them to allocate maximum time on generating a unique game experience and integrating the highly creative features that they are world famous for. The use of RenderWare will also act to ensure that the game is delivered on time to a market desperate to play the latest Lionhead game. Tim Rance, Technical Director, Lionhead explains, "'The Movies' is a hugely exciting project for us, and porting onto console within a fairly tight timescale is an enormous challenge. We decided early on that we would need to short circuit the time required to tackle the technical challenges of developing all the necessary rendering technology from scratch. We chose RenderWare to help take away the 'pain' that is so often experienced throughout the development cycle and to ensure that we deliver the conversion on time. RenderWare Graphics is well established, high quality, proven technology that will allow efficient porting for the game - it was the best choice." David Lau-Kee, CEO, Criterion Software adds, " We're delighted to be working with Lionhead on their newest project. Supporting a developer that is world renowned for its extraordinary creative skills and pioneering approach to development, on a genre defining game, is a great testament to RenderWare's ability to deliver huge benefits across all platforms and any genre."
