Take-Two Interactive Software today announced that they would indeed be altering a small line of controversal dialog found in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. The offending line, "kill the Haitians", will be edited after recent protests from members of the Haitian community. In the statement, Take-Two apologized for any offense caused by the game. All newly pressed copies of the game will contain the edit.
"As with literature, movies, music and other forms of entertainment, we have strived to create a video game experience with a certain degree of realism, which we believe is our right," the statement also said.
"Nevertheless, we are aware of the hurt and anger in the Haitian community and have listened to the community's objections to certain statements made in the game."
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg also has threatened to launch an investigation of New York-based Take Two by the city's human rights commission because of the offensive remark.
