TGS: First Look: Mega Man X2 (GBC)
Expecting Mega Man Xtreme 2? Capcom fires off a surprising new blue bomber title.

The blue bomber never ceases to move far from the world of games for long; Mega Man X5 and Mega Man Xtreme were only recently released on the PlayStation and Game Boy Color. At the still-ongoing Tokyo Game Show, Capcom has announced the development of a new GBC title, Mega Man X2. Instead of a direct follow-up to Mega Man Xtreme, Capcom is instead combining elements of Mega Man X, X2 and X3 from the Super NES into a single portable cartridge.

One of the cool aspects about Mega Man Xtreme 2 is that gamers can switch playing between Mega Man and Zero during the middle of a stage; each has certain abilities that will make segments easier to handle. At the end of the game, there is even a special stage that’s different for both Mega Man and Zero, making it worthwhile to work through the game’s stages more than once.

We have few details on the game itself, but we do know that Capcom plans to release the title in Japan this summer, and have obtained screen shots taken from the game in action.
