Years ago there was an anime based upon the Final Fantasy series, but it never seemed to catch on as much as Square had hoped. Final Fantasy: Unlimited, their second attempt, seems to be faring much better, at this point, and should be much more faithful to the extraordinary role-playing games.
Anime Dream had the chance to speak with Hironobu Sakaguchi about Final Fantasy: Unlimited, and came back with a gaming scoop.
It seems that in addition to their normal series of Final Fantasy titles, Final Fantasy: Unlimited has turned out well enough that Square is turning it into a separate game series under the direction of Akitoshi Kawazu. No console has been determined for the new series of Final Fantasy titles, and it hasn’t been decided if it will keep the Final Fantasy: Unlimited name.
