Mega Man X Command Mission was playable at the Capcom E3 booth and is shaping up to be decent RPG outing for the blue bomber. The battle system has the same standard RPG interface, with a few new twists to seperate it from pack.

The E3 demo let players run through an area of the game and face off against a final boss. Up to three party members can battle at once with several attacks. Each character has a main attack with the A button and can perform combo attacks with the X and Y buttons. An X, Y, A combo can get the player three hits of an enemy, or blast out a special move with the Z trigger. The Z trigger special opens up a meter where players have to time button presses and rapidly press the A button to determine how many hits the move will make. If you get the timing right, bots bust out a devasting attack. The variety is a welcome addition to standard RPG fare and keeps the battles from getting too repetitive.

The visuals are like most Mega Man titles. Bright, cel shaded characters on top of full polygon backdrops. There's nothing overly eye-catching about it but it gets the job done.

Mega Man X Command Mission hits this September on GameCube.
