Unreal Tournament II - The Liandri Conflict by Epic Games was playable at the Xbox booth and is already looking to be a huge online battle game for Xbox. The new third-person view and melee fights, mixed with classic first-person shooting gives it a step up in gameplay over any nearest competitor.

UTII was designed ground up for the Xbox and it shows. There are vast, beautiful locations that mix natural ruins and cold caverns. The lighting, textures, and special effects look gorgeous, and the frame rate is at a solid 30 fps.

A brand new addition to the Unreal Tournament series is third-person melee fighting. Players choose from an assortment of characters, each with their own distinct abilities and initial weaponary. The beautiful thing in UTII is that the third person view is simply integrated into the game. You can choose it if you'd like, or you can stick with classic first-person mode. The third-person mode controls well and the melee combat is fast. Players can perform special jump attacks. The action is fluid, very playable, and not just a gimmick thrown into the game.

Unreal Tournament II - The Liandri Conflict is definitely going to be a hot Xbox Live title when it hits later this year. Be ready to see yourself get whacked.
