 Namco Museum: Virtual Arcade
Same as it ever was, all on one disc.
Much like any great historical landmark, Namco continues to put some spackle and paint on their Museum series to appeal to a new audience who may have not played any of the prior dozen or so incarnations released since the PlayStation One. This time Namco is vying for the Xbox 360 crowd with the release of Namco Museum: Virtual Arcade. It is a collection of over 30 of Namco's greatest hits on one disc, all without forcing you to download it from Xbox Live Arcade. What is nice, though, is the fact that each game does in fact merge with the XBLA versions so you can still play online, view and posts on leaderboards, etc.

While the presentation in this version is as bare bones as can be, nothing will ever replace the "walk-in" arcade done by the crew years ago on another version. Alas, the menu screen isn't what you are here for now is it...it's the games!

Here is what you get in this latest Museum collection:

  • Baraduke
  • King Balloon
  • Rolling Thunder
  • Bosconian
  • Mappy
  • Sky Kid
  • Dig Dug II
  • Metro-Cross
  • Sky Kid Deluxe
  • Dig Dug Arrangement
  • Motos
  • Super Pac Man
  • Dragon Buster
  • Pac & Pal
  • Tower of Druaga
  • Dragon Spirit
  • Pac Man Arrangement
  • Pac Man Championship Ed.
  • Galaga '88
  • Pac Mania
  • Mr. Driller Online
  • Galaga Arrangement
  • Pole Position
  • Pac Man
  • Galaga Legions
  • Pole Position II
  • Galaga
  • Galaxian
  • Rally X
  • Ms Pac Man
  • Grobda
  • Dig Dug
  • Xevious
  • New Rally X
I think Namco has covered their bases on this, their most complete collection of titles on one disc. If nostalgia is your thing, then you are already on XBLA and have a good assortment of these titles. But if you are new to the 360, this is the cheapest way to get all these classics at once, as most are at least 5 bucks a piece on XBLA! Now you just have to wonder when we will start to see games made in the 90's and afterwards in a future Museum collection.
