 Hogs of War
The most strategy you'll ever use to make bacon.
Pigs proclaiming all out war against each other is amusing, but that's all Hogs of War has going for it. The strategy game pits pigs from around the world in battles that involves some occasionally cool fighting and real bad voice acting. The game is easy to get into, but playing it will make you wonder why you got into it at all.

The object of the game is to conquer Suaustralia's 25 regions. All these regions contain "swill" (oil). Pick from teams like "Uncle Ham's Hogs", "Sushi Swines", and "Sow-A-Krauts" to start controlling the swill supply, and subsequently the world.

The one player mode has players taking control of an eight pig team. There are heavy weapons, medic, espionage, and engineer pigs that are specialized with certain items and weapons. To start the battle, simply move your pig to the desired position on the terrain and use the weapons that are available at your disposal. Players can get as close or as far away as they want to use their bayonet, rifle, or grenades on enemy hogs. There is a bit of strategy in determining where your hog should stand and deciding what weapon to use. But nothing that you wouldn't already expect from a standard strategy game.

Before each attack the hog will make a cheesy comment that's bad enough to make you squeal (pun intended). The voice actors use different accents to emphasize the hogs' origin, and hearing a stereotypical Asian or German accent borders offending either culture. Fortunately, voices can be turned off, resulting in much more peaceful gameplay.

There are a number of multiplayer modes that will get two or more players to hog up more fun. Survival mode is like a normal one player game and can be played a various levels of difficulty. Depending on the setting, terrain and items will be placed more strategically. Death Match mode lets each player kill respawning pigs until enough points are reached. And Generate mode pits players in randomly generated landscapes.

Hogs of War moves slowly and relies on its tongue-in-cheek hog humor to pull players through the game. But the pig jokes get old quick and the gameplay isn't better than most other strategy games. What's left is an average playing game that winds up making you feel like a complete ham.
