 Napoleon Dynamite
A minigame collection based on a film from 3 years ago? Pass.
I'll admit to enjoying Napoleon Dynamite when I finally got around to seeing it on DVD a couple years back. The quirky humor was a bit hit or miss, but overall I enjoyed it without buying into the massive hype train that surrounded it.

However, I cannot fathom why anyone would have thought making a game about the film would be a good idea, and I definitely can't figure out why this thing was green-lighted past the development cycle.

Napoleon Dynamite: The Game, is a collection of mini-games that revolve around a basic plot taken from the film. Remember when Napoleon said he was hunting wolverines with his uncle? You'll do that here. Or at the end of the film, when Napoleon decides to bust a move in front of his school? Yeah, here too, and that's pretty much the gist of the entire game. Also, they're just not fun to play. You won't find Mario Party quality here, in fact, I've never played a minigame collection that bored me as much as this one.

In a cheap plot to appeal to the audience that enjoyed the movie, the game is littered with out of place quotes, sound bites, and film clips. If you're not already tired of hearing people push an exasperated "GOSH" thru their lips by now, you definitely will be by the time you're done playing this game.

To make matters worse, the visuals are a horrible, pixilated mess. In all honesty, they remind me a bit of Pit Fighter, for those of you that played it on the Genesis or SNES. The sound doesn't fare much better, and you'll be turning the sound off (if not the game) in a matter of minutes.

Even though the game is definitely budget priced at $20, that's still far too much to pay for what you get here. Also, if you're looking at the DS version for whatever reason, be prepared to pay $10 more for less minigames than are available in the PSP version.

Basically, avoid this one at all costs; it's pretty much the ET of the PSP.
