 Hot Brain
Work your brain on the go.
There has been an influx of 'test your brain' style games for the PSP and DS. Each game offers you a unique goal to reach, but at the end of the day, it just feels like you are taking practice exams for a test that means nothing. While some gamers are fine with this concept, other gamers appreciate when other ideas are combined; say like Sudoku and Brain Age. At least this idea gives you something to do all day other than taking tests.

Nevertheless, Midway has sunk their teeth into the mind developing titles with Hot Brain. The game sets out to not only tease your mind but make you laugh in the process with the help of Fred Willard as the game's host playing Dr. Ed Warmer.

You take a series of test set up in five categories; logic, math, memory, language, and concentration. Each test will progress from easy to hard and as a result the 'hotter' your brain becomes. Gain as much knowledge and work your brain till it reaches its hottest or used most frequently point.

Visually the game is colorful and the polygonal mad scientist look for your host helps to deliver a more humorous side of the game. Diagrams and numerous puzzle pictures are mostly what you'll see, but the color pallet is vibrant enough to please the eye. Like most puzzle titles, the "how to" before each section is a bit vague, so prepare to catch on only after you've attempted a certain puzzle a few times.

There is a multiplayer mode over ad hoc for up to 4 players, so you can get together with your friends and see who the biggest smart-ass is. The competitive features such as Brain Race which allows gamers to see who can solve puzzles the fastest or Think Tank which allows you to see how quickly you can heat up the Think Tank are fun side notes.

Even with its hundreds of puzzles and multiplayer modes, Hot Brain quickly becomes your typical Brain enhancer that will grow tiresome once you've seen every style of puzzle enough times. If you are into this genre, you will enjoy the difficulty and complexity of its offerings. In the end though, Hot Brain just adds a new style, look, and formula to what has already been created thus far.
