 SingStar Vol. 2
Sing till your voice gives out! Vol. 2
Singing is something everyone can do. While not everyone can do it well, there are many who do regardless the results or tone quality. Whether it's in the car, in the shower, on stage, or even in front of a television playing one of the many games of the music genre, singing inspires many to express emotions from happy to sad. For a few years now, Sony and the Sing Star line have taken over as the primary vocal game on the market. While Konami still has Karaoke Revolution, they only come around when the American Idol competitions make their way to broadcast television. So it looks as if Sony was happy to step in and lead the world to sing.

While this incarnation of Sing Star is just an expansion of sorts, it is called Vol. 2 after all, that doesn't take away from the fact that this is great addition to the already fantastic PlayStation 3 game that came out just a couple of months ago. I assume we are seeing this version on the basis of gamers who may not be online and/or don't want to pay for additional content online as Vol. 2 offers only new songs, not features. With that being said, here's the list of songs you can expect on this version of Sing Star for the PS3.

  • Aerosmith - "Dude Looks Like A Lady"
  • Blur - "Country House"
  • Bobby Brown - "My Prerogative"
  • Eminem - "Without Me"
  • George Michael - "Freedom 90"
  • Gorillaz - "Dare"
  • Gossip - "Standing in the Way of Control"
  • Hot Chocolate - "You Sexy Thing"
  • Kaiser Chiefs - "Ruby"
  • Kool & The Gang - "Celebration"
  • Lil Wayne - "Lolly Pop"
  • Lovin' Spoonful - "Summer In The City"
  • Maximo Park - "Our Velocity"
  • Morrissey - "Suedehead"
  • Nirvana - "Lithium"
  • Panic! At The Disco - "But It's Better If You Do"
  • Paul McCartney & the Frog Chorus - "We All Stand Together"
  • Pulp - "Common People"
  • Radiohead - "Street Spirit (Fade Out)"
  • Shakespears Sister - "Stay"
  • Spandau Ballet - "True"
  • The Cure - "Pictures of You"
  • The Killers - "When You Were Young"
  • The Libertines - "Can't Stand Me Now"
  • The Mamas & The Papas - "California Dreamin'"
  • The Offspring - "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)"
  • The Police - "Don't Stand So Close To Me"
  • The Proclaimers - "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)"
  • Tom Jones with Mousse T - "Sexbomb"
  • Tone Loc - "Funky Cold Medina"
  • Young MC - "Bust A Move
It is rather upsetting to see Sony whip out another disc so soon, especially when the first game offered a very expansive download store. What you really get here is the same thing as the first disc with no additional content such as trophies or other cool features that the PS3 has implicated since the last version came out.

As is, I can really only recommend the gamer who want to continue to ignore that online support for Sing Star on PS3 does exist, or if you are taking your collection to a friends home who doesn't already own Sing Star, otherwise they really should have put a different song from Aerosmith on here...like "Same 'ol Song and Dance."
