 Singstar '90s
"I want you" to "hold on" while "I touch myself" like a "zombie". These songs and more wait for you!
Chances are if you're a karaoke fan and own a PS2 you've played at least one of the games from the Singstar collection. A huge hit in Europe, this franchise keeps on trucking with new installments, each with a compilation of 30 songs. If you've mastered the Amped, Pop, '80s, and Rock versions, you may be wondering if the '90s version offers anything new. Read on to find out.

Like its predecessors, Singstar '90s is available by itself for $30 or with 2 microphones for $50. It contains 30 new songs, accompanied by their respective music videos. The game is more than standard karaoke since it awards more points when the player correctly matches the pitch of the song and lyrics. Up to two players can sing at the same time, either head-to-head or in duets. If you have an Eye Toy camera you can also save videos or snapshots for others to view later.

Besides the new songs and the green color scheme, there's not much new gameplay wise. Singstar '90s is simply an expansion pack with new content. For those wondering what songs are included, here they are in list format:

  • Arrested Development - Tennessee
  • Boyz II Men - Motownphilly
  • Chumbawumba - Tubthumping
  • Color me Badd - I Wanna Sex You Up
  • Divinyls - I Touch Myself
  • En Vogue - Free Your Mind
  • Extreme - More Than Words
  • Gin Blossoms - Hey Jealousy
  • Hootie and the Blowfish - Only Wanna Be With You
  • Jesus Jones - Right Here Right Now
  • Len - Steal My Sunshine
  • MC Hammer - U Can't Touch This
  • Natalie Imbruglia - Torn
  • New Kids On The Block - Step By Step
  • Nirvana - Lithium
  • Paula Abdul - Opposites Attract
  • Poison - Unskinny Bop
  • R.E.M. - Everybody Hurts
  • Santana Feat. Rob Thomas - Smooth
  • Savage Garden - I Want You
  • Seal - Kiss From A Rose
  • Sir Mix A Lot - Baby Got Back
  • Sixpence None The Richer - Kiss Me
  • Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun
  • Spin Doctors - Two Princes
  • Stone Temple Pilots - Plush
  • Technotronic Feat. Felly - Pump Up The Jam
  • The Cranberries - Zombie
  • Vanilla Ice - Ice Ice Baby
  • Wilson Phillips - Hold On

Singstar '90s plays the same as the others before it, but it will come down to the track list preference whether or not you'll want to spend the money on it. Overall I think the list has a little something for everybody, and I was surprised at how many of the songs I knew. Most of them are very recognizable and while it will come down to personal preferences, I think this version is the best yet. However, I still prefer Karaoke Revolution and Rock Band's method of showing the words right below the pitch bars, something I wish Singstar would adopt. That being said, if you like the music listed, go for it. Otherwise wait until later this year and pick up Singstar for the PS3 (providing you have that console) since it will be packed with brand new features and downloadable content.
