Wario is back for some wacky mini-game loving. WarioWare Twisted is the direct sequel to the original WarioWare on GBA and packs Nintendo’s new gyro sensor right into the oversized cartridge to create one of the most unique games ever. With over 200 new microgames to master and hundreds of souvenirs to unlock, this one ranks right up there with the original for depth and simplistic fun. At the start of WarioWare Twisted, Wario gets frustrated with the game he’s playing on his Game Boy so he throws it against the wall and it shatters. He takes the broken system to get repaired by Dr. Crygor who throws the GBA into one of his new inventions. The final result is a GBA that plays games by spinning it so Wario decides to rip off the idea and sell brand new microgames and thus the game begins.
Similar to past WarioWare games, players have only a few seconds per mini-game to discover how to successfully pass the challenge. Twisted uses the motion sensor and the “A” button to create some amazingly fun games. Simply moving the GBA left and right horizontally will allow movement in the game. The game pak has a built in rumble feature that will help players determine how far to turn the GBA in each game. The games come fast and furious and only get faster and more difficult. It’s quite hilarious to watch someone else play the game since the GBA is frantically moving about like mad. After passing a predetermined amount of mini-games and defeating the boss stage, the board will be completed and players can move on to the next set of challenges. Often times completing a stage will yield a bonus souvenir that can be messed around with. Some of them are actual playable mini-games that keep track of high scores and can be just as fun and addicting as the main game. WarioWare Twisted is a perfect game to play in short bursts while on a bus or waiting for a plane. The game is insanely fun to play and is one of those rare games where you’ll have a smile on your face the entire time playing it. While the main game can be a bit on the short side, it’s the collectible souvenirs and the immediate replay value that will keep people hooked. Twisted is more fun than Touched due to the motion sensor and the fact that the mini-games are just better designed. I highly recommend picking up Twisted. You won’t find another game like it and it’s easily accessible so it can be played by anyone.
