 Confidential Mission
Bang-up action for a low low price.
Sega has never failed in making great arcade action games, and Hitmaker’s Confidential Mission is no exception. The title has solid shooting action on top of the cleanest graphics seen on Dreamcast. Better yet, it can be yours for only $19.99!

As a CMF (Confidential Mission Force) agent, you and your partner will travel through a museum, train, and the big boss’ headquarters. The locals are typical shoot-em-up fare but they’re done real nice with rich textures and high poly counts.

Confidential Mission plays like Virtua Cop – only faster and snappier. When bullets strike enemies they flinch fast, then it’s on to the next one. There’s a good variety of enemies so that you won’t feel like you’re shooting the same guy fifty times. There’s also an assortment of bystanders that get in the way and pop out fast when they really shouldn’t.

Players can pick up a number of different ammo, like assault rifles and grenades. There aren’t a lot of options but it’s nice to know you can get rid of enemies several ways.

The analog pad control isn’t bad at all and it’s still easy to pin down bad guys. The gun action is where it’s at to get the most accurate shot. But since DC guns don’t have a video input, expect tons of eyestrain when the screen flashes a million times.

In the middle of missions there will be certain tasks that you can have “Success” or “Failure” in. One example is when the mission 1 boss traps you in a room with gas. With a few seconds on the clock you’ll have to use a special gun to spray gunk over the vents and stop the gas from leaking. Fail and you’ll take a different path.

There are a few extras to keep you occupied after missions. The Agent Academy mode takes you through different target techniques against dummies. After you beat the game you’ll be able to play in Another World mode where enemies appear from different spots. There’s also an extra mission that can be unlocked.

You really can’t get more bang for your buck with Confidential Mission. If you like playing super spy and shooting up bad guys, this one’s for you.
