Get ready to take the SOCOM military franchise with you, wherever, whenever this fall with the release of SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo. This original title created in association with the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Command will be available exclusively for the PSP™ (PlayStation® Portable) entertainment system. It will offer fans of the multi-million selling franchise all-new single-player and wireless multiplayer gaming missions in four different Areas of Operation (AO). Players are tasked with completing 14 unique, realistic international single-player missions, including Chile, which is a unique AO only available in the PSP release.

As the SEAL commander, the player will be supported by an AI teammate executing traditional SOCOM team-based tactical, stealth and action gameplay. After successfully completing a level, players can replay the mission in an entirely new way through the “Instant Action” option, with different objectives, enemy and object placement.

In addition, multiple players will be able to form clans and take on their friends for team based high-action gameplay in SOCOM Fireteam Bravo via a Wi-Fi* connection.

The hard work spent on single-player missions in SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo will pay off at home on SOCOM 3: U.S. Navy SEALs, exclusively for the PlayStation®2 computer entertainment system. SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo is one of the first titles for PSP to offer independent gameplay as well as PlayStation 2 interoperability with the latest game in the franchise, SOCOM 3, through “crosstalk” objectives. Objectives completion in one SOCOM game will affect the overall play experience in both games. Once a crosstalk task is completed, the player will be notified and able to sync mission critical data from PSP to PlayStation 2 through a USB connection.

Features:

  • Command your teammate in 14 different single-player missions, designed with detailed plots and varied mission objectives.
  • Four international Areas of Operation (AO). Chile is exclusive to SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo.
  • “Instant Action” single-player missions allow players to rapidly replay mission maps with new objectives and randomized enemy and objective placement. Players can also customize these missions to play their favorite mission types (i.e. hostage rescue, demolition, etc.).
  • Streamlined control scheme is optimally designed for PSP™, and offers quick teammate commands and realistic lock-on targeting for enemy acquisition.
  • Traditional SOCOM team-based tactical stealth action gameplay with sophisticated AI enemy and teammate AI behavior.
  • More than 30 authentic weapon and equipment options offer players the ability to customize their SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo gameplay experience.
  • Multiple save points eliminate having to replay a failed mission from the beginning.
  • The “crosstalk” feature enables players who successfully complete cross-title objectives to advance more rapidly and affect mission structure in both SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo and SOCOM 3 by syncing mission data across PSP and PlayStation 2 through a USB connection.
  • Multiplayer - Players will be able to team up and compete with friends in Ad Hoc and Infrastructure Modes through a Wi-Fi connection*. More details TBA.
  • Association with the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Command ensures authentic and realistic SEAL gameplay and mission designs.

One of the most addictive (and popular) multiplayer PlayStation 2 titles is undoubtedly SOCOM. SCEA and Zipper Interactive just recently announced the PSP version.

We do know that it will feature campaigns and locations from both SOCOM II and the upcoming SOCOM III, and that it will of course support WiFi multiplayer, both Ad Hoc and Infrastructure.

The original made excellent use of all the PS2's buttons and sticks, and with a few less, the PSP version will of course have to be streamlined a bit.

Stay tuned for the full details from the E3.
