NBA '06 for PSP introduces two new mini-games, HORSE and Dodgeball, to accompany the existing selection of games including the PlayStation Skills Challenge, Own the Court, and 3-Point Challenge. HORSE and Dodgeball bring fun and classic schoolyard action to the PSP, adding to the more traditional basketball mini-games normally found. Additionally, gamers will have the option to play each mini-game as a ladder challenge, where the goal is to beat progressively tougher opponents to move up the ladder and ultimately earn special rewards. With new shooting mechanics, 60 FPS gameplay, and online capabilities, NBA '06's mini-games are fast-paced and deliver unique gaming action on the go.

Expanding upon the successful launch of the first 5-on-5 basketball simulation ever created for the PSP (PlayStation Portable) handheld entertainment system, NBA '06 for PSP enhances the franchise by featuring all-new handheld NBA action for gamers to play anytime, anywhere. Officially licensed by the NBA and introducing all-new mini-games, animations, and game design, NBA '06 for PSP is ready to provide fans intense basketball gaming action on-the-go.

Supporting up to two players via ad hoc or infrastructure mode, NBA '06 for PSP offers gamers the chance to play any of the 41 authentic NBA teams, including six National Basketball Development League (NBDL) teams. Two new mini-games, HORSE and Dodgeball, allow players to step away from traditional 5-on-5 play and engage in some classic schoolyard battles. A new ladder challenge gives players the opportunity to compete in increasingly difficult mini-games or exhibition play where the goal is to complete the ladder and earn rewards. Additionally, Sony Computer Entertainment has implemented an all-new trading card system, providing gamers an opportunity to capture freeze-frame shots of their favorite drives, shots, passes, and dunks as virtual cards to keep and share with others.

Features:

  • Trading Card System - Players can earn virtual trading cards captured from in-game highlight plays to collect and share. Special trading cards are also earned at the completion of various replay ladders.
  • New Artificial Intelligence (AI) - NBA '06 for PSP features entirely new AI including simplified play-calling commands for a more user-friendly experience. Plays that can be utilized include set pick, send cutter, post-up, and run baseline.
  • Updated Animations - Running at 60 FPS, NBA '06 incorporates tandem animation technologies to produce ultra realistic player interactions. Additionally, motion capture data from professional basketball players results in smooth gameplay and lifelike player movements.
  • Shooting Mechanism - Play with either the default "hold and release" shooting mechanic or select the "clutch shooting" option. Gamers will be able to add combinations such as spin moves, jukes, and pump fakes while on offense.
  • Turbo Enabled - Players can now enjoy the luxury of quickly speeding past opponents by accessing the new turbo function.
  • NBA License - NBA '06 offers gamers 41 authentic NBA teams including six National Basketball Development League (NBDL) Teams.
