Along with the Metal Gear Solid 4 in-game demo and MGS2 digital graphic novel and Portable Ops+ for the PSP, Konami finally gave the official word on Metal Gear Online during the recent MG 20th anniversary party. The 16 player online game is headed to the PlayStation 3, and will likely launch before MGS4 as a wholly separate game (obviously). The game promises plenty of team-based multiplayer modes with some new and interesting features, such as the ability to easily keep track of your squad-mates. They have also announced an upcoming Japanese closed beta which is unfortunately only limited to 3000 participants. Sign-ups have gone live (official site), so it's possible gamers outside that territory may be lucky enough to get into it. Stay tuned for more information.
