Look out Wave Race... well maybe not, but it's nice to see competition in the water race genre. While still very early, Splashdown is shaping up quite nicely. Not only will you be able to race with officially licensed watercrafts from SEA-DOO, but you'll be able to perform acrobatic tricks and stunts along the way. Here is what you can look forward to:

  • Photo realistic environments including Hawaii, Arizona, Italy, and France
  • A dynamic water engine
  • Amazing real time water effects with "hydrodynamic physics"
  • Fully animated licensed watercraft models and equipment from SEA-DOO
  • 18 racing courses
  • Eight different characters
  • User controlled camera angles and view points
  • Multiple game modes including Career, Countdown and Free Ride with three difficulty levels in each
  • Hilarious character dialogue during races
  • Wild acrobatic stunts, spectacular wrecks and bails
  • High energy soundtrack
  • 2-person multi-player support

Splashdown sounds promising and will have to be to be quite good to actually topple the big N's Wave Race. Here are some early screens for an idea of what's to come.
