Screens Updated: 10/15/2003

THQ sent over a whole slew of brand new screens of Sphinx for all to see. The multiplatform title should be available in mid-November.

European developer Eurocom Entertainment has been working with license-based games ever since the company was formed. In recent generations, a wholly original title from the company has yet to be seen. Sphinx and the Shadow of Set chances all that, as the developer focus its talents on a dark and magical adventure set in the world of Egypt. Story details are sparse, though we do know it will involve the main character, Sphinx, chasing through portals after the evil Set to recover the stolen crowns of Egypt.

Eurocom has become known for its strong game development, and we’ll be interested to see how this develops under its own original content:

  • Transport yourself beyond the deserts of Egypt to amazing worlds based on fantasy and mythology
  • Play as Sphinx, a headstrong demi-god with the ability to morph into a winged lion
  • Control Tutankhamen the Mummy when you need to rely on stealth to outwit your enemies
  • Interact with hundreds of unique and imaginative creatures, enemies and allies
  • Totally immersive storyline and epic gameplay driven by Hollywood quality cinematics

Since both THQ and Eurocom are keeping a tight lid on Sphinx and the Shadow of Set, a trailer has been released following the launch of the official web site. You’ll find plenty of gameplay and cinemantic snippets in the trailer, so we recommend checking it out for a better idea of what to expect.

We’ll return with hands-on impressions in a couple of weeks. Until then, stay tuned!
