Though the original TY the Tasmanian Tiger was lost in the intense shuffle of platform releases, Australia-based Krome Studios and Electronic Arts are taking another chance with the boomerang whipping creature from the outback in TY the Tasmanian Tiger 2. Currawong Jail wasn't strong enough to keep Boss Cass locked up for long. Upon escaping, Boss Cass claims Cassopolis, a high tech island of lizards and birds, as his own and hatches a plan for world domination utilizing an army of Uber Reptiles. It's up to TY and his Burramudgee Bush Rescue friends to put a stop to Boss Cass' diabolical plot.
The scope of the gameplay has been greatly expanded in the sequel, resulting in a number of new features: - 21 upgradeable boomerangs, including the Lasharang, Kaboomarang, and Megarang
- Five different “Mech units” to help TY fight large numbers of enemies and complete mini-missions
- “Mech units” will have the ability to swim under lava; shoot lasers, Blastorangs, water or fire and other special characteristics to aid TY
- Driving and flying missions featuring combat and puzzle solving, with access to helicopters, submarines, and off-road trucks
- Unlockable cart racing mini-games for gamers to challenge their friends in seven cart racing levels
The same design team behind the original is deep into development of TY the Tasmanian Tiger 2, and is hard at work towards a fall release date for the PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox and Game Boy Advance versions.
