Zelda: Breath of the Wild, PSVR, For Honor take top gamescom 2016 awards

Gamescom-logoThe European gaming industry has spoken… and here are the winners of the gamescom awards for 2016.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild took home top honors as the “Best of gamescom award” for this year, the PlayStation VR nabbed the “Best Hardware” award, Battlefield 1 picked up the “Most Wanted Consumer Award”, and “For Honor” grabbed both the “Best PlayStation 4 game” and “best PC game”. There’s a lot more than that though, with a couple dozen winners split over 6 categories.

The winners of the gamescom award 2016 have been announced: The award ceremony took place on the social media stage on Friday, 19 August 2016. This year’s international expert jury had selected the 73 nominated products and games from over 200 entries to the most coveted prize of the European gaming industry. Now the winners in all categories have been announced.

The winners of the gamescom awards 2016 have been announced: “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” by Nintendo claimed the coveted “Best of gamescom award” this year. “For Honor” by Ubisoft convinced the jury in two categories, claiming the award as the best PlayStation 4 game and best PC game. “Sea of Thieves” by Microsoft was distinguished as the best game for the Xbox One, winner on the Wii U was “The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” by Nintendo, who also walked off with the award for the best mobile game with “Mario Party Star Rush”. In line with the gamescom “Virtual Reality” trend, “PlayStation VR” convinced the jury as the best new hardware, “Wilson’s Heart” by Twisted Pixel won the award as the best virtual reality game. The categories “Best Stand Concept”, “Best Extension” and “Best Preview/Vision” celebrated their premieres this year. Here, 2K’s stand for “Mafia III”, Activision Blizzard with “Destiny: Rise of Iron” and Sony with “Horizon – Zero Dawn” picked up the trophies. “Battlefield 1”, which won the Most Wanted Consumer Award this year was the public’s favourite.
