Besides providing curated GoPro produced videos, what's unique about the app is that it will allow users to purchase GoPro cameras and accessories from the app itself. Microsoft will handle the transaction, shipping and everything via their online store. The app requires an Xbox Live Gold subscription of course.

GoPro Channel App:
GoPro, enabler of immersive self-capture and engaging personal content sharing, today announced the upcoming launch of its GoPro Channel apps for Xbox 360 and Xbox One video game and entertainment systems from Microsoft. The GoPro Channel apps will stream on-demand GoPro video content to Xbox Live Gold members worldwide and enable them to purchase GoPro cameras and accessories directly through the app, fulfilled by the Microsoft online store. This is the first time Microsoft has integrated the physical purchase of packaged goods into an Xbox platform app.
"GoPro is a content-driven company. We enable consumers and professionals around the world to capture and share mesmerizing video and photo content that excites and inspires a global audience," said Nicholas Woodman, Founder and CEO of GoPro. "Our GoPro Channel app will make it easy for millions of global Xbox Live customers to watch GoPro originally-produced and "best of" user-generated content on their televisions at home. We're excited to align ourselves with Microsoft and the Xbox brand as we believe our customers share the same desire to enjoy the type of immersive, experiential content that our cameras enable."
In addition to streaming curated GoPro programming to Xbox Live connected televisions at home, the GoPro Channel apps will also enable Xbox Live members to purchase GoPro cameras and accessories directly through the app, a first for the Xbox platform. In the U.S., orders will be sourced and fulfilled through the Microsoft store. The GoPro Channel app is anticipated to launch on Xbox 360 this spring and on Xbox One this summer.
"We're thrilled to bring unique and exciting videos from the GoPro community to both Xbox One and Xbox 360," said Michael Mott, general manager for the apps and development ecosystem at Xbox. "The amazing video footage that GoPro cameras enable is some of the most compelling and interesting available anywhere. Xbox Live members are in for a treat when they access GoPro's incredible programming and are able to enjoy innovative experiences like purchasing GoPro products right from their Xbox.
The relationship with Microsoft augments GoPro's initiative to expand its content distribution and community reach beyond current brand platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vimeo and GoPro.com. In October 2013, the company launched a GoPro Channel on Virgin America in-flight entertainment and additional content partnerships are anticipated in 2014.
